About Scott Olson, MD

I have been in private practice in Corte Madera for over 25 years. I completed my residency training in adult psychiatry at University of California, San Francisco, Department of Psychiatry. Following this I completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at University of California, San Francisco, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I am a board certified psychiatrist with the American Board Of Psychiatry and Neurology in both adult psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. I am Licensed with the California Medical Board.

It has been my honor to have been selected on a number of occasions by physicians in Marin County as child and adolescent psychiatrist of the year.

My postgraduate training at Case Western Reserve University included research of parental response to perinatal death. This study fueled my interest in the strength of the bonds between parents and their children. I observed the anguish caused by anything that disrupts that bond.

While completing my fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at UCSF, I conducted a research study on psychiatric admission of adolescents. This study underlined the importance of effective techniques in outpatient treatment for adolescents.

I also served as a psychiatrist with the Menlo Park Veterans Administration Medical Center focusing on treating veterans with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.

I combine the knowledge gained through education and research with my practical experience of diagnosis and treatment to help individuals. I enjoy the collaborative quality of working with people to create an individualized treatment plan that addresses their concerns, experiences, and current situation. I specialize in psychopharmacology and psychotherapy, utilizing techniques of psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and mindfulness.
